Appleby, Hope, and Matthews opened in 1956. The original partners were Tony Salmon, Pip Graham, Don Matthews and Norman Harvey.
The original office is based in Normanby and is now the head office of AHM Solicitors, following the opening of two new branches located in Redcar and Stockton.
The firm is comprised of a team of highly qualified and experienced staff. The longest-standing current partner of the firm is Simon Walker, who has worked at the firm for over 25 years, closely followed by Julianne Askins and then Shazana Rafiq. Jacky Grainger and Kate Clark became partners in the firm in 2021.
The firm has always been and always will be a high-street firm that plays an important role in providing outstanding customer advice to individuals in the community.
Are you worried about there being a language barrier? At AHM, we recognise the importance of meeting our clients legal needs and have multilingual staff that can often assist in matters. The languages spoken in our offices are English, Mirpuri, and Urdu. Please note that our staff are not professional interpreters or translators.
If you're worried you won't be able to afford legal advice, we offer a free initial appointment where we will give you realistic and professional advice. You may qualify for Legal Aid or Legal Help, which we can discuss with you in this consultation. This appointment normally takes place over the telephone; however, you are welcome to come into our offices if you would rather have a face to face appointment. There is no obligation to take things further after your appointment; we simply ask that, after some thought, you let us know how you would like to proceed with matters.
